MEADVILLE — Services for Burl Covington, 72, of Chicago, who died Tuesday, May 22, 2012, in Chicago, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Mount Sinai Missionary Baptist Church in Meadville with the Rev. Anthony Wilcher officiating.

Burial will follow at Higdon Cemetery under the direction of Marshall Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until service time Saturday at the church.

Mr. Covington was born Oct. 25, 1939, in Meadville, the son of Elijah Sr. and Alice Bass Covington. He was a graduate of Lilly May Bryant School in Bude.

Mr. Covington was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Curtis Reed Jr.; four sisters, Ida Covington Baisseau, Eva Nell Harris Carradine, Alice Covington Tyler and Daisy Covington Coleman Hunt; two brothers, John Covington and Thomas Harris; and two sisters-in-law, Flossie Covington and Betty Covington.

Survivors include a loving and devoted wife, Katie Covington of Chicago; one daughter, Linda McMicael and husband, Robert, of Orangeburg, S.C.; four sons, Rufus Reed and wife, Adrienne, of Elgin, Ill., Gary Reed and wife, Rebecca, of Forest Park, Ill., Patrick Covington Sr. and wife, Tequila, of Bensenville, Ill., and Darren Covington Sr. of Berwyn, Ill.; three sisters, Mary Cameron and husband, Dan, Sharon Elmore and husband, Ronnie, all of Natchez, and Velma Williams of Brookhaven; seven brothers, A.B. Covington and Elijah Covington Jr., both of Bude, Alfred Covington and wife, Lillie, of Columbia, S.C., Wilbert Covington, Lonnie Covington, both of Niagara Falls, N.Y., T.J. Covington of Natchez and Charles Covington of Washington; 24 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; two aunts; one uncle; and a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
