Mr. Cardwell was born in Arkansas. He was the newspaper editor for the Daily Leader in Rogers, Ark. After the death of his oldest daughter, Dona, he moved his family to Natchez where he owned and operated Cottage Grocery for a number of years.

After the graduation of his two daughters, Don and Annette moved to McCall Creek where he managed STAR Auto, working faithfully until his illness. His wit, charm and famous one-liners quickly led to his famous nickname of “Flash,” known to a number of people of the Brookhaven community.

Mr. Cardwell was preceded in death by his wife, Annette Lewis Cardwell; young daughter, Dona; and his parents, Lloyd and Bessie Cardwell.

Survivors include two loving daughters, Neet and her husband, Jeff, who graciously devoted themselves to his care since the death of his wife, and Audrey and her husband, Steve; five grandchildren, Jordan (Josh) Murphy Norris, Carley Murphy, Josh Sivils, Zach (Barrie) Sivils and Paige Sivils; and two great-grandchildren, McKinley Mullen and Aidan Sivils.

He will be dearly missed by all who knew him, but is now at peace, being reunited once again with his wife, daughter, mother and father.

Rest in peace now, Poppy. We love you.
