FERRIDAY — Graveside services for Matthew Louis Evans, 24, of Ferriday, who died Sunday, May 27, 2012, at Riverland Medical Center in Ferriday, will be at 3 p.m. today at Shady Acres Cemetery with the Rev. Roy Rushing officiating.

Burial will follow under the direction of Young’s Funeral Home in Ferriday.

Matthew was born June 12, 1987, in Monroe, La., the son of Rickie Lane Evans and Tina Marie Auld. He was a carpenter.

Matthew loved duck hunting, frog hunting, fishing and just being in the outdoors.

He was preceded in death by his father; maternal grandfather, Kenneth Auld Sr.; and one uncle, Kenneth Auld Jr.

Survivors include his mother of Houma, La.; one son, Blake Morris Evans; one stepdaughter, Desteny Wiley; a special companion, Shauna Higdon, all of Ferriday; one brother, Andy Evans of Clayton; two sisters, Brandy McLeod and husband, Kevin, of Vidalia and Jessica Evans Ordone and husband, Dewayne, of Houma; maternal grandmother, Evelyn Marie Pounds and her husband, Mike, of Tensas, La.; paternal grandparents, Hilbert and Linnie Evans of Ferriday; and one niece, Emma Evans.

Pallbearers will be Tony Evans, Bryan Shelton, Kyle Ensminger, Castel Walker, Daryle Walker Jr., Travis Barlow, Jonathan Walker and Tony Knapp.
