Daisie Monroe Crockett
Aug. 26, 1946 – Dec. 23, 2003
CANNONSBURG – Services for Daisie Monroe Crockett, 57, who died Tuesday, Dec. 23, 2003, at Jefferson County Hospital in Fayette, will be at 1 p.m. today at Bethlehem Baptist Church in Cannonsburg.
Burial will be in the family cemetery.
Mrs. Crockett was born Aug. 26, 1946, the daughter of Ace and Ella Dee Monroe.
She was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church and had done private sitting for many years.
Nellie Burks
JONESVILLE, LA – Services for Nellie Burks, 82, of Jonesville, who died Monday, Dec. 29, 2003, at LaSalle General, will be Wednesday at Young’s Funeral Home Chapel of Jonesville.
Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Julian Bradshaw
ROLLING FORK – Services for Julian Bradshaw, 78, of Rolling Fork, who died Saturday, Dec. 27, 2003, at Sharkey-Issaquena Hospital in Rolling Fork, will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Deer Creek Baptist Church.
Burial will be in Mound Cemtery under the direction of Glenwood Funeral Home of Rolling Fork.
He was a lifelong resident of Rolling Fork where he was a tow boat engineer employed by Valley Towing of Memphis for 27 years. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving in WWII. He was a member of Deer Creek Baptist Church.
Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Survivors include his wife, Martha Jo Bradshaw of Rolling Fork; two sons, Robert Terry (Ellen) Bradshaw of Waxahachie, TX and Jackie Brooks (Barbara) Bradshaw of Mission, TX; one daughter, Wanda (Jay) Welch of Vidalia, LA; two brothers, Leland Bradshaw of Lake Village, AR and Billy Bradshaw of Angleton, TX; two sisters, Margie Mallow of Pryor, OK and Jessie Mae Goza of San Antonio, TX; five grandchildren.
Johnnie Ruth Chambers
May 4, 1952 – Dec. 25, 2003
PORT GIBSON – Services for Johnnie Ruth Chambers, 51, of Chicago, IL, who died Thursday, Dec. 25, 2003, at Kindred Hospital in Chicago, will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church in Port Gibson with the Rev. Elijah Brown officiating.
Burial will be in Carbondale Cemetery in Port Gibson under the direction of Rollins Funeral Home.
Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Mrs. Chambers was born May 4, 1952, in Claiborne County, the daughter of Lloyd D. Weddington, Jr. and Rosalie Williams Weddington.
She was a cafeteria attendant for Chicago Board of Education and a member of Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church.
Mrs. Chambers was preceded in death by her father, Lloyd D. Weddington, Jr.; paternal grandparents, Lloyd D. Weddington, Sr. and Emma Snow Weddington; maternal grandfather, Wade Williams; and mother-in-law, Theresa Chambers.
Survivors include her husband, Curtis Chambers of Chicago; two daughters, Curtinal and Luvenia Chambers, both of Chicago; mother, Rosalie Weddington of Port Gibson; two brothers, William (Isabelle) Weddington and Claude Weddington of Port Gibson; four sisters, Loretta W. (Enoch) Clark and Sandra W. Jones of Port Gibson, Keisha W. (Lee) Felton of Fayette and Barbara Thomas (Everett) Parker of Baker, LA; four brothers-in-law, John (Jackie) Chambers of Chicago, Eddie (Gloria) Chambers of Port Gibson, Larry (Renee) Chambers of Dansbury, CN and Michael (Brenda) Chambers of Port Gibson; three sisters-in-law, Ruby McCarley of Dansbury, CN, Beatrice McGee of Chicago and Octavian (Kenny) Odom of Port Gibson; two grandchildren, Octavious Butler and Tiffany Davis of Chicago; and a number of other relatives and friends.

NATCHEZ – Graveside services for Kathryn Elizabeth Darrah, 88, of Natchez, who died Monday, Dec. 29, 2003, at Natchez Regional Medical Center, will be at 2 p.m. today at Greenlawn Memorial Park with the Rev. Lou Knighton officiating.
Burial will follow under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.
Mrs. Darrah was born Jan. 17, 1915, in Wesson, the daughter of Emmett Monroe and Bertha Bailey Floyd.
Mrs. Darrah was preceded in death by her husbands, Hugh Vernon King and Max Darrah.
Survivors include daughters, Catherine Rose Cotten of Natchez and Wanda Jean Bradley of Houma, LA; six grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; sisters, Sarah Dier of Ferriday, LA and Alice Hemphill of Florida; brother, Eugene Floyd of Ferriday
Louise Humble
WILDSVILLE, LA – Services for Louise Humble, 71, of Wildsville, who died Sunday, Dec. 28, 2003, at Rapides General Medical Center in Alexandria, LA, will be at 2 p.m. today at Evangeline Baptist Church with the Rev. Larry Eubanks and the Rev. Jerry Chapman officiating.
Burial will be in the church cemetery under the direction of Young’s Funeral Home of Ferriday, LA.
Visitation is until service time today at the church.
Mrs. Humble was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond H. Humble; father, Rollie Mitchell; mother, Ettie Mitchell.
Survivors include her daughter, Gay Eubanks of West Monroe, LA; two sons, Stephen Humble and Christian Humble of Wildsville; two grandsons, Lonnie Ferrington of West Monroe and Chad Eubanks of Hot Springs, AR; five great-grandchildren, Lane Eubanks and Logan Eubanks of Lake Charles, LA, Olivia Cox of Hot Springs, Darrick Ferrington of Wisner, LA and Brittany Ferrington of West Monroe.
Pallbearers will be Brian Wade, Jimmy Jernigan, Ricky Morris, Ronnie Bruit, Paul VanGossen and John McClure.
Mary Ellen Sylvester

NATCHEZ – Memorial services for Mother Ellen Sylvester, 89, of Los Angeles, CA, who died Monday, Dec. 22, 2003, at St. John’s Hospital in Santa Monica, CA, will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Greater St. Mark Baptist Church with the Rev. Maurice Irving officiating.
Mother Sylvester was born Dec. 6, 1914, the daughter of Neal, Sr. and Selma Thornburg of Natchez.
She accepted Christ at a young age. She was married to the Late Isiah Sylvester, Sr. for 35+ years, and to this union seven children were born.
Mother Sylvester was preceded in death by one daughter, Susie B. Singleton and two sons, Melvin D. and Alonzo J. Sylvester.
She leaves to cherish her memory: a loving and devoted daughter, Mary I. Sanders; three sons, Isiah, Jr., John A. (Linda) and Alvin C. Sylvester; four sisters, Francis Anderson, Daisy Rawling, Dorothy Abaham and Helen Curtis; and one brother, Luther Thornburg, all of Natchez; 17 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
