LIBERTY &045; With three of their first four Region 7-3A games on the road, Wilkinson County head coach Henry Storey was hoping his Wildcats would do well heading toward the Christmas break.

In fact, he wanted his team to be at 3-1 in 7-3A at this point in the season.

Instead, the Wildcats are now at 1-2 in region play after a disappointing 52-39 loss to the Amite County Trojans Tuesday night &045; a game which they led at halftime.

&uot;The biggest thing was we just couldn’t hit the shots,&uot; Storey said. &uot;That was the biggest problem. It was similar to Franklin County.&uot;

Wilkinson County (4-7 overall) led Amite County 8-7 at the end of the first quarter and 19-17 at halftime.

Things turned around for the Trojans (6-1, 2-0) in the third quarter as they took advantage of the Wildcats’ shooting woes to take a 30-25 lead into the fourth quarter.

Amite County increased its lead to nine points early in the fourth quarter before the Wildcats went on an 11-0 run to take a 36-34 lead.

&uot;Then we couldn’t block out on a free throw and then they scored,&uot; Storey said. &uot;That took the wind out of us. Then we had to start fouling and they made their free throws.&uot;

Brian Dent led Wilkinson County with 17 points. Lee Robinson led Amite County with 15 points.

Wilkinson girls 53, Amite 34

LIBERTY &045; For two quarters, the Wilkinson County Lady Wildcats were involved in a much closer game than they probably wanted to be in against Amite County

But any chance of an upset by the Lady Trojans quickly ended in the third quarter as the Lady Wildcats went on to take a 53-34 win in a Region 7-3A game Tuesday night.

Latasha Williams led three Lady Wildcat players in double figures with 17 points.

Kimberly Andrews led Amite County with a game-high 20 points. However, she was the only Lady Trojan player to score in double digits.

Davidson 54, Vidalia 41

VIDALIA, La. &045; The Lady Warriors had the solid lead in the fourth quarter before Vidalia put together a run and made it interesting.

The Lady Warriors held a 40-23 lead heading into the fourth quarter before the Lady Vikings got the lead within 10 midway through the fourth.

Adrianne Jones led Davidson with 18. Dominique Trimble led with Vidalia with 18.

Ferriday 64, Tallulah 22

TALLULAH, La. &045; The visiting Lady Trojans upped their winning streak to three straight games with an impressive performance on both ends of the court Tuesday night.

Ferriday (5-3) put this game away early as it led the host Lady Trojans 17-6 after one quarter of play and 31-11 at the break.

Jameca Garrison led the way for Ferriday with 21 points.

and Rosalind Johnson chipped in with 14 points.
