NATCHEZ — A Rosary for Elsie Davis Jackson, 75, of Natchez, who died Friday, May 18, 2012, at Promise Hospital, will be at 10 a.m. today at Holy Family Catholic Church.
Services will follow at 11 a.m. with the Very Rev. James P. Fallon, S.S.J., officiating.
Burial will follow at the Natchez City Cemetery under the direction of Webb Funeral Home.
Mrs. Jackson was born Aug. 10, 1936, in Natchez, the daughter of Jim Davis and Elsie Marie Davis. She was a graduate of St. Francis High School.
Mrs. Jackson retired from Holy Family Catholic Church and School after 45 years of service. She loved her family, church and friends.
Mrs. Jackson was known affectionately to some as “mother,” “momma,” “granny,” “grandma-bone,” “Ms. Elsie” and “that lady.”
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, James L. Jackson; grandfather, Henry Ridley; grandmother, Marguerite Davis; and great-grandson, D’Mauryae Jackson.
Survivors include six loving children, Wavette Davis, Darlene Williams and husband, James, Annette Singleton, Alcina Pugh and husband, John, Gerald Jackson and wife, Helen, and Mary Ann Jackson; one sister, Helen Winding; a special loving aunt, Amelia Lyerly; 17 grandchildren, Casey, Derrick, Candice and her husband, Albert, Trennell, Kendric, Keishawn and her husband, Jason, James III, Antonio, Brendan, Jayla, Mia, Robert, Shirlita, Laquita, Addis, Brandon and Shenise; 25 great-grandchildren; two uncles, Earl J. Davis and Edward Daley; one aunt, Mary Ridley; and a number of nieces, nephews and friends.
