NATCHEZ &045; Police suspect alcohol may have contributed to the death of a 23-year-old Meadville man at a Natchez motel room Sunday.
Terre Boyd was pronounced dead at the motel, according to Adams County Coroner James Lee.
Lee said an autopsy has been ordered to determine the exact cause of Boyd’s death.
Natchez Police Chief Mike Mullins said officers received a call at approximately 4 p.m. Sunday from some friends of Boyd who were staying with him at the motel.
Mullins said Boyd’s friends told officers that Boyd had consumed a 12-pack of beer and several mixed drinks Saturday night.
Boyd reportedly felt sick and laid down at about 2 a.m., Mullins said.
Boyd’s friends told officers they stayed up late Saturday night and slept late on Sunday, Mullins said.
&uot;Along with the alcohol evidence, we also found some prescription medications. But there was no evidence of external trauma to the body,&uot; Mullins said.
Mullins said Boyd’s body would be transported to Jackson today for an autopsy.
&uot;At this point, it appears that what he ingested was very likely the cause of death.
But we won’t be sure of the cause of death until after an autopsy is completed,&uot; Mullins said.
Lee said the autopsy will include a series of toxicology tests to rule out any foul play.
