Church to honor law enforcement

FERRIDAY — During times of catastrophe, law enforcement personnel might receive some recognition from the people whose lives they’ve saved.

But for Matthew Bonsall, evangelism director at the Pentecostals of the Miss-Lou, that just isn’t enough.

Which is why Bonsall arranged a special recognition service for all the men and women who protect and serve the Miss-Lou.

“These people take care of us and provide a service that goes unnoticed until we need them,” Bonsall said. “And there’s a great relevance between that and God.

“Some people don’t want anything to do with God, until a catastrophe occurs in their life.”

After holding a similar event at his previous church in Maryland, Bonsall said he wanted to bring the same idea here to his new church.

“This way we can show our appreciation when something isn’t going wrong,” Bonsall said. “We want to let them know what they mean to us and recognize them for what they do.”

The service will be at 6 p.m. on Sunday at the Pentecostals of the Miss-Lou.

A reception will take place before the service from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m.
