MERIDIAN &045; Boy, Adams Christian has been in this boat before.
The Rebels are sitting in good shape with the regular season winding down, and they have to play well against Lamar to get in keen position to make some noise against Jackson Prep next week.
They started off the week with a 21-1 blasting of Lamar in Meridian Tuesday, and they’ll need a doubleheader sweep of the Raiders to set up a series against Prep next weekend. But first things first. The Rebels can’t do a repeat of last year and drop a game to the Raiders.
&uot;With Prep and Hillcrest splitting (Tuesday), that gives Prep three losses,&uot; AC head coach Gill Morris said. &uot;They still have us and Parklane. If Hillcrest wins (Game 3), we can slip in as No. 3 seed. But nothing matters if we don’t take care of our two games Thursday. We let Lamar sneak up on us already.&uot;
That surely wasn’t the case on Tuesday as the Rebels pounded them for 21 runs after putting up 11 in the first inning. That first inning the Rebels sent 15 men to the plate, and on his second at-bat Timmy Foster cranked a grand slam.
David Trisler followed with a solo homer. The Rebels used six walks and one hit batter in the first inning, and Lamar pitchers combined to walk 10 and hit three in the five-inning game.
&uot;His first three pitchers all have arm trouble for whatever reason,&uot; Morris said of Lamar. &uot;We probably saw a guy who pitched B team. From what he told me, that’s probably all we’ll see Thursday. We swung the bats with runners on base. They walked a lot of us, but after we got that first pitcher out of there the rest of those guys threw strikes. We hit some ropes tonight.&uot;
The Rebels added eight in the third and one in the fourth and fifth innings. Foster also had a double that scored a run, Dustin Case doubled in two, Trisler had two doubles, Jamie Morris singled in a run and Matt Parson doubled in a run.
Douglas Davis threw three innings for the Rebels and didn’t allow a hit. Trisler pitched the last two.

ENTERPRISE &045; The Green Wave really haven’t missed a beat at the plate. Tuesday’s pounding of Enterprise went just three innings, and the team hasn’t played a seven-inning game in region since an 8-3 win over West Lincoln in the opener.
The Green Wave (16-2, 8-0) led 8-0 after two before scoring 12 in the third to put the game away.
&uot;The only thing bothering me right now is our pitchers are not getting to pitch seven innings,&uot; CHS head coach Craig Beesley said. &uot;When we get in the playoffs, we’ll have to go seven innings unless it’s a 10-run rule or something. We’re hitting the ball real well right now. We had some good swings against a good pitcher in Jena Monday, and we had some good swings tonight.&uot;
The Green Wave used the long ball early to spark a rally as Preston Hicks slammed a three-run homer to help take a 5-0 lead after one. In the second Jeremy Davis doubled in a run, and Wyler Murray doubled in Te Riley for an 8-0 lead.
In the third the Wave broke it open with Michael Blain doubled in Drew Burns, Davis singling in two runs, Charlie Lane doubling in two runs and Zach Calhoun ending it with a grand slam to score Burns, Nick Anderson and Andrew Ellard.
The Green Wave will take that momentum into its contest tonight against rival St. Aloysius with a chance to wrap up the region title with a win.
&uot;Right now we’re swinging some hot bats,&uot; Beesley said. &uot;I hope it stays that way. Even though we had a good game against them last time, it’s still that rivalry game. Hopefully we can come out and do a good job.&uot;

ST. JOSEPH, La. &045; The Saints (6-9, 4-3) closed in on the No. 3 seed out of District 7-A with the win and will finish up the season Thursday at Huntington.
The Saints had to break away from a 6-5 lead in the sixth to score three in the sixth and seventh innings to hold off the Chiefs. The Chiefs had a 2-1 lead before Trinity got five in the fourth for the lead.
Ryan Rachal got the win for Trinity after throwing five innings. Andy Moon and Walt Ketchings each worked an inning of relief.

WOODVILLE &045; The Rams locked up the No. 2 spot for the district tournament with a win over the Hounds to finish the regular season.
Huntington led 3-0 after the second and led until the Rams scored five in the bottom of the fourth. The Hounds tied it up with two in the fifth, but the Rams answered with three in the bottom half for the 8-5 lead.
Spike Deville tripled in two in the fourth, and Duston Dor doubled in one off Huntington starter Will Moak.
