NATCHEZ &045;&045; Stella Carby is nuts over her pets.
That’s why she’s opening the doors of her home tonight for &uot;An Animal Affair.&uot;
The annual event will be from 7 to 9 p.m. at Greenlea, 211 S. Wall St. All proceeds will go to the Natchez-Adams County Humane Society.
Humane Society Director Pat Cox said the event was the biggest fundraiser of the year.
&uot;That’s the biggest part of our budget,&uot; she said. &uot;We are totally dependent on it.&uot;
A $15 donation will be taken at the door.
The event, held in the fall and spring, raised over $5,000 last time. Cox said she expected over 200 people to attend tonight.
An assortment of food will be served and there will be a cash bar and a live band. The setting at Greenlea will allow for the event to be outdoors.
&uot;It’s probably one of the last fun things to do before it gets hot,&uot; Carby said. &uot;And everyone loves their pet.&uot;
Carby, who has two dogs and a cat said she was hoping for a good showing to raise money for the animals.
Money raised will be used for shelter upkeep, food and supplies for the humane society’s animals.
The event is held at a different home each year on a volunteer basis, Cox said.
Carby said the event draws a mix of people and is open to any animal lover.
Greenlea is on the corner of Washington Street and South Wall Street. Dress is casual.
