NATCHEZ — Kmart is closed following a fire that reportedly originated from a cash register Wednesday night.
The Natchez Fire Department received an emergency call at 11:43 p.m. Wednesday. Fire Marshal Aaron Wesley said investigators are still determining the cause. Electrical engineers hired by Kmart are also surveying the damage.
Store Manager John Christopher confirmed the store was closed Thursday, but would not comment further citing corporate restrictions.
Employees were working to repair the damage Thursday, but it is unknown when the store will reopen.
