Police search for suspect after man hit with hammer

NATCHEZ &045; A Natchez man has been taken to a Jackson hospital after been struck in the head with a hammer Monday night.

Henry Barnes III, 26, 632 Otis Redding Drive, has serious head injuries, Police Chief Mike Mullins said.

Police received a disturbance call at 6 p.m. to a parking lot of a business on Seargent S. Prentiss Drive.

Barnes was conscious at the scene and claims he does not know the suspect in the case, Mullins said.

&uot;We don’t know what prompted this,&uot; he said.

No other individuals were involved in the fight.

No arrests have been made but police are looking for the driver, a black male, of a red Mazda Protg with a fin on the back and a black quarter panel on the front.
