PARHAMS — Services for Elvin Hutchins, 99, of Parhams, who died Friday, May 4, 2012, at The Columns Rehabilitation & Retirement Center in Jonesville, will be at 11 a.m. today at Parhams Baptist Church with the Rev. Tony Ganey officiating.
Burial will follow in the church cemetery under the direction of Comer Funeral Home of Ferriday.
Visitation began at 5 p.m. Saturday and will continue until time of service at the church.
Mr. Hutchins was born Feb. 19, 1913, the son of Willis Hutchins and Rosa Lee Fairbanks.
Mr. Hutchins was a retired postmaster and farmer. He was a member of Parhams Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon and the church clerk.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Dolly Currington Hutchins; son, Bob Hutchins; granddaughter, Denise Hutchins; brother, Ivy Hutchins, and two sisters, Ruby Hawthorn and Daisy Taylor.
Survivors include three sons, Randy Hutchins, Roger Hutchins and Edwin Hutchins and wife, Bobbie; daughter, Bonnie Hamilton, of Parhams; 11 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren and 21 great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Mike Hutchins, Tye Hutchins, Chase Weeks, David Hutchins, Jarrod Wiggins, Aaron Hutchins, Gary Estes and Phillip Doucas.
Honorary pallbearers will be Dextor Hutchins and Luke Hutchins.
