NATCHEZ &045; It looks like smooth sailing on the way to bringing metal-fabrication company Venco to Adams County.

Three representatives from the Mississippi Development Authority met with the Venco Chief Executive Officer Gary Ventrella, the Adams County Board of Supervisors and Economic Development Authority Director Michael Ferdinand Friday morning to iron out some of the details.

The MDA representatives, one for each grant applied for, came to discuss the funding of the Venco project.

The county has applied for grants and loans to fund the $1.84 million project.

Board of Supervisors President Darryl Grennell said the meeting went well and said he’s confident the funding will come. The state is still waiting on paperwork from the Public Service Commission and the water company before approving the grant.

&uot;There’s not going to be a problem,&uot; Grennell said. &uot;Everything will fall in like it is supposed to.&uot;

Grennell said he was hopeful they could break ground on the project soon.

The company, based in Baton Rouge, hopes to move into the port area.

Venco has guaranteed to bring at least 50 jobs, but the company is hopeful 80 to 100 jobs will be created. Fifty-one percent of the workers employed must be low- to moderate- income.
