FERRIDAY — The Concordia Narcotics Task Force put two Ferriday men behind bars this week on separate drug-related arrests.
Delivery man
While attempting to deliver illegal narcotics to a Concordia Parish Sheriff’s Office Work Release inmate on the job, two task force agents and a CPSO deputy arrested Jimmy Ray Jackson Jr.
Jackson, 27, 511 S. Sixth St., was arrested on charges of conspiracy to distribute schedule I drugs (synthetic marijuana), conspiracy to distribute powder cocaine, felony possession of powder cocaine with intent to distribute, felony possession of schedule I drugs, flight from an officer, resisting an officer by violence, driving under suspension, no seat belt and probation violation.
As Jackson attempted to elude Lt. Greg Jackson and Lt. Chris Groh, the two task force officers, he drove into Deputy Todd Ainsworth’s vehicle at the job site.
New criminal charges are pending against inmate Troy D. Boyer, 36, Marksville, who was immediately transported to the Concordia Parish Correctional Facility where he was returned to the general population with all privileges curtailed.
Home grown
Twenty-seven marijuana plants, drug paraphernalia, a rifle and a number of items used to take care of the plants were confiscated at the home of Kelvin James Freeman during his arrest.
Freeman, 30, 717 10th St., was arrested Monday on charges of possession of marijuana (felony), manufacture and distribution of schedule I drugs (cultivation of marijuana), possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a firearm while in possession of a controlled dangerous substance.
CNTF agents Jackson and Groh, assisted by CPSO K-9 officer Jamie Lipscomb, also seized a pistol from Freeman’s vehicle, ductwork and charcoal systems apparently used to filter the air and marijuana odor out of the residence, and a video system from the bedroom.
Freeman was released on $77,500 bond.
