Busy week full of good news in area

It’s a crazy time in Natchez, with city elections only a day away. Candidates and their supporters are tired, no doubt. For several, it will all be over Tuesday, but before we look too far into the future, let’s remember the good things from last week.
• The Natchez-Adams County Chamber of Commerce hosted Alcorn Day in Natchez last week, inviting ASU officials to meet with locals and discuss the bond between the city and the school. Alcorn President M. Christopher Brown II expressed the importance of a healthy partnership between the two.
• Trinity Episcopal Day School students went back in time last week during their Shakespeare Fest. The week-long focus featured coordinated events and special learning opportunities.
• Historic Jefferson College celebrated a bit of a throw-back Saturday with Pioneer Day. Area residents had the chance to learn how our ancestors lived. We are lucky to have such a great historical resource in our community.
• The City of Vidalia is on the move again, just as literally as it was decades ago. This time, City Hall, the police department and the fire department have fully relocated into new buildings along U.S. 84. The growth is a sign of a healthy city. We hope city workers enjoy the new accommodations.
The coming week is an important one for Natchez, and therefore for the Miss-Lou. If you live in the city, please get out and vote Tuesday. Your participation will keep the good news coming.
