FERRIDAY — Louisiana State University has a large following in the Miss-Lou, and for the next month LSU aficionados have an opportunity to learn the school’s history and get a birds-eye view of what it would have been like to attend the school at given points in history.

Today, the traveling exhibit “LSU: Building an American Renaissance” will have a soft open at the Delta Music Museum’s Arcade Theater in Ferriday.

The exhibit will have an official opening reception from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday, and Louisiana Secretary of State Jay Dardenne will be in attendance, Delta Music Museum Director Judith Bingham said.

The exhibit is an exploration of the architectural history of LSU, and follows the school from its founding in Pineville as the Louisiana State Seminary for Learning to its move to the Pentagon Baton Rouge and finally to its current location.

“I have got three cases where they have built the buildings of LSU in miniature, and on the walls are displays that explain the architectural designs of LSU,” Bingham said.

While the exhibit focuses on the school’s architectural history, Bingham said it will be of interest to everyone.

“A lot of people in our area are either alumni of LSU and got to enjoy the great buildings while they were on the campus, and we are all LSU fans anyway, so I think it is of interest to the general public,” she said.

The Arcade is the second stop for the traveling exhibit, and the exhibit can be viewed free of charge during the museum’s normal operating hours, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.
