AMITE, La. &045; The Oak Forest Yellow Jackets proved why they are the No. 2 ranked team in all of Class AA in the MPSA with a convincing 39-3 win over the Adams Christian Rebels Friday night.

With running back Dustin Case out with a broken arm, Adams Christian probably figured out that yards and points would be hard to get against a tough Oak Forest defense. That proved to be right as the Rebels were held to under 200 yards of total offense.

After Adams Christian (4-3) took an early 3-0 lead on a 34-yard field goal by Timmy Foster, Oak Forest (6-1) took over after being shut out in the first quarter, scoring 26 points in the second quarter to put the game away. That was one of the few bright spots for the Rebels in this non-district matchup.

Bonner Fitzgerald scored on a 4-yard run nearly midway through the second quarter and David John’s extra point gave the Yellow Jackets the lead for good at 7-3. But they weren’t done yet. Not by a long shot.

Oak Forest scored three touchdowns in the final 2:25 of the second quarter &045; first on a 26-yard touchdown run by Taylor Finch, then a 55-yard fumble recovery return by Fitzgerald and, finally, an 8-yard run by Shane Hollins with just eight seconds to go until halftime that gave the Yellow Jackets a 26-3 halftime lead.

WCCA 41, Prentiss Christian 0

PRENTISS &045; With first place and probably the MPSA District 6-A championship on the line, the Rams, led by Greg Garner and Ruston Cado, had their way with the Saints on both sides of the ball Friday night in what proved to be a bigger mismatch than expected.

Garner ended up with more than 130 yards rushing and two second-half touchdowns. One was a 47-yarder in the fourth quarter on a bad snap when the Rams (3-4, 2-0) were going to have to punt the ball away.

Cado also finished with more than 100 yards rushing and three touchdowns. Two of his three first-half scores were in the first quarter as the Rams jumped out to a 21-0 lead.

River Oaks 17, Tensas 6

MONROE, La. &045; In a battle of two teams that were undefeated in MPSA District 7-A going into Friday night’s game, the Mustangs proved why they are the best team in that district by scoring 17 unanswered points in the second half to pull away from a scrappy Chiefs team.

For the most part, the game was fairly even and Tensas played much better defensively against the Mustangs’ running game than it did at a jamboree back in August. However, turnovers came back to bite the Chiefs (4-3, 2-1) with two interceptions and one fumble. The Mustangs (6-1, 4-0), on the other hand, did not have a single turnover.

&uot;We didn’t know what to expect from them. We did our job as coaches,&uot; Tensas head coach Chris Jacobs said. &uot;For River Oaks, it probably solidified the district championship.&uot;

Briarfield 28, Huntington 0

FERRIDAY, La. &045; The turnover bug got the Hounds again as they were able to move the ball, but seven fumbles cost them big time in this MPSA District 7-A game against the Rebels.
