Those who are looking to bring in 2005 at a great party can find one either side of the river tonight.
The Natchez Community Center, located on the corner of Franklin Street and Wall Street, will kick off its party at 8:30 p.m.
The bash is $50 a head and will have an open bar from 11 p.m. to 1 a.m.
Bob Schwagers, treasurer of the Mystic Krewe of Alpheus, said his organization is sponsoring the even and plans to give portions of the proceeds to charity.
&uot;We will be giving some to the Pleasant Acres Day School and some to the Adams County Red Cross. We will have live music by the Calico Cats, out of Lafayette,&uot; he said.
&uot;I think that it will be a great way to bring in the New Year. All you have to do is pay the cover, and the rest of the night is a freebee.&uot;
Those wanting to spend New Year’s Eve west of the Mississippi River can attend the celebration at the Comfort Suites Riverfront Restaurant and Lounge.
General Manager Kay Deweese said she invites anyone who wants to see the New Year in with a bang to come to the &uot;Dance with Rosco.&uot;
The party will feature WQNZ FM 95 Country’s popular DJ, Dave Kimbro, and will take place in the Copeland Ballroom from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m.
&uot;We have some wonderful specials going on in the restaurant. We would love for everyone to spend the New Year with us,&uot; she said.
Deweese said that last New Year’s Eve, the party was only open to the guest of the hotel, but this year the invitation has been extended to all party goers, with no cover charge.
&uot;We wanted to do a little something different this year and show our appreciation for our regular customers. We didn’t want to limit ourselves this year,&uot; she said.
