BROOKHAVEN — Alex Denver Hall, 88, of Nashville, formerly of Natchez, walked into the loving embrace of Jesus Saturday, April 14, 2012, surrounded by the love of his family and the expert care received at Bethany Health Care in Nashville, Tenn.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Brookhaven Funeral Home Chapel with Elder Danny Wisner officiating.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mr. Hall was born Aug. 28, 1923, in Lincoln County, the son of Ealom and Susie Hall. He proudly served in the U.S. Navy as a machinist mate first class and was honorably discharged in December 1946, and returned to Mississippi to his wife, Evelyn Martin Hall.

Denver was a well respected resident of Natchez for more than 50 years, a deacon at Salem Primitive Baptist Church for 47 years and retired from Armstrong Tire and Rubber Company in 1986. He continued to be an electrical contractor until 2006. In his final years he lived in Nashville with his daughter, Sue, and her family, where he was a member of Big Harpeth Primitive Baptist Church in Franklin, Tenn.

He enjoyed his time at Centennial Adult Day Care in Nashville, reminiscing with other veterans on the good times and bad times of the war.

Mr. Hall was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 50 years; an infant daughter, Derinda Louise Hall; four brothers, Maxie Hall, Ernie Hall, Charles Hall and Ealom Hall Jr.; and a foster son, George Hall.

Survivors include three daughters, Sue Redden and husband, Dale, of Nashville, Denay Phillips of Natchez and Tamila Fiola and husband, Keith, of Swansea, Mass.; one foster daughter, Patty Hoffstadt and husband, Harrell, of Kentwood, La.; one foster son, John Hall; 10 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two sisters, Artie Lea of Brookhaven and Jeanette Adams of Pascagoula; one brother, J.D. Hall and wife, Pat, of Summit; and two sisters-in-law, Ella Hall of Brookhaven and Mary Jane Hall of Natchez.

Denver enjoyed a long and happy life surrounded by family and friends who loved and respected him.

Pallbearers will be Stacy Arnold, Forrest Dunlop, Bryan Hall, Josh Cutrer, Jerrette Hall, Buddy Hall and Jimmy Hall.

Honorary pallbearers will be J.D. Hall, Dale Redden, Keith Fiola, Lane Fiola and Neal Rousseau.

His grandson, Stacy Arnold, will sing hymns of praise at his services.
