FERRIDAY, La. &045; The game plan for the Davidson Lady Warriors was quite simple &045; get the ball out of Jameca Garrison’s hands and make someone else on Ferriday’s roster take the shots.

That strategy worked for three quarters, but the Lady Trojans got significant contributions from Tiffany Hall and Tiffany Chatman as they outscored the Lady Warriors 14-5 in the fourth quarter to rally for a 46-42 win Friday night.

Hall finished with 19 points and Chatman had 10 points as Ferriday (17-4) rallied first from a bad first quarter and then a five-point deficit going into the fourth quarter.

&uot;Everybody’s figuring out that we’re relying on Jameca to do handle the ball,&uot; Lady Trojans head coach Lisa Abron said. &uot;They (Davidson) doubled up on her for much of the game.&uot;

Garrison was held to just nine points.

Ferriday got off to an awful start in the first quarter as it had a hard time getting anything to drop and the Lady Trojans found themselves trailing 10-5 at the end of the quarter.

Things did get better for Ferriday in the second quarter as it got its offense going and outscored Davidson (3-11) 16-12 to trail by just one, 22-21, at halftime.

McCall 90, Vidalia 29

VIDALIA, La. &045; Not enough bodies and an inability to beat the opponent’s press defense sent the Lady Vikings to another loss, this one in the team’s district opener.

&uot;We hadn’t been playing our best ball lately,&uot; McCall head coach John Holmes said. &uot;We just try to work on our defense. That’s how you get better.&uot;

It was over early on, with the Lady Dragons taking an

14-2 lead midway through the first quarter. From there, things just got worse for Vidalia.

McCall’s Bettina Fountain came off the bench to score 16 points in the second period alone as the Lady Dragons stretched it out to 40-15 at halftime.

By the second half, the only suspense left was whether one of McCall’s top scorers, Arrica Hicks and Fountain, would outscore the entire Vikings squad. Hicks tied the Vikings with 29, Fountain ended with only 26 after she sat down most of the fourth quarter.

Victoria Hunt led Franklin County with a game-high 17 points and Shalenia Wilcher had 16. Vanteska Williams led Jefferson County with 13 points and Stacy Thomas added 11.
