MEADVILLE &045; Now things will get interesting.

There are still a number of games to be played, but Franklin County’s Lady Bulldogs finished off Jefferson County Saturday 69-34 to set up a showdown Tuesday with Wilkinson County in Woodville to determine who’s in first in Region 7-3A.

Each team has one loss, but Franklin won the first round in Meadville. The winner will have a leg up in the race for the No. 1 seed in the division tournament.

&uot;They’re all big from here on out,&uot; Franklin head coach Charles Moore said. &uot;We’ve got Woodville Tuesday, Hazlehurst twice and Amite twice. Tuesday is big because we both have one loss. It’s an extremely tough place to play, and (coach Edwin White) does a great job with them. We’ll have to play our best game to be competitive.&uot;

At least Franklin County got back into the win column before then after losing at Natchez Friday for just its fourth loss of the season. The Lady Bulldogs (6-1, 15-4) jumped on Jefferson early with pressure defense and led 22-10 at the end of the first quarter and 36-14 at halftime.

The Lady Bulldogs then outscored Jefferson 25-5 in the third quarter to lead 61-19 heading into the fourth quarter.

&uot;We played man to man and were able to pressure the ball and get into a running game,&uot; Moore said. &uot;We got some turnovers, and we got some easy baskets.&uot;

Victoria Hunt led Franklin with 21 points. Stacy Thomas led Jefferson County with 8.

Amite girls 45, Huntington 42

LIBERTY &045; The Lady Rebels have improved since early in the season, and they took a win over a good Huntington club thanks to a fourth-quarter surge.

Huntington led 11-7 at the end of one and 29-28 heading into the fourth quarter. Amite then answered with a 17-13 edge in the fourth to take the three-point win.

Katie Moak led Huntington with 13 points. B. Carroll led Amite with 15.

Huntington boys 57, Amite 37

LIBERTY &045; The Hounds jumped on Amite in the second and third quarters to wrestle their sixth win of the season.

Amite led 17-16 after one, but the Hounds (6-12) outscored the Rebels 18-4 in the second and 11-7 in the third to lead 45-28 heading into the fourth quarter.

Ples Arthur led Huntington with 19.

Centreville boys 62, Silliman 44

CLINTON, La. &045; The Tigers had that big win over Trinity and stayed hot a day later with a solid win over the Wildcats in their final District 4-AA game.

Centreville (4-8, 7-13) led 14-7 at the end of the first and 25-19 at half but outscored Silliman 20-8 in the third to lead 45-27 heading into the fourth quarter.

Brandon Patin led the Tigers with 21 points. Spencer McClain led Silliman with 20.

Silliman girls 37, Centreville 33

CLINTON, La. &045; The Lady Tigers went cold in the third quarter after holding Silliman scoreless in the first quarter and couldn’t recover.

Centreville (4-7, 11-12) led 17-10 at half but was outscored 12-5 in the third quarter as the Lady Wildcats tied the score at 22. Silliman’s 15-11 edge in the fourth closed the deal.

Taylor Tynes led Silliman with 15. Ash Brashier and Brittany Boatner led Centreville with eight.
