State to offer free tax help Thursday at Ferriday library

FERRIDAY, La. &045; Those with a few, or more than a few, questions about their tax forms can get some answers this week at the Ferriday library.
The Louisiana Department of Revenue will send a team of employees to the library on Thursday to assist seniors and low-income taxpayers in preparing their federal 1040EZ or 1040A tax forms state tax.
The service will be available from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and is free of charge.
Qualified individuals should bring photo identification and both spouses must be present if filing jointly.
They should bring copies of W-2s and 1099s and statements of interest, dividends, unemployment compensation and social security cards for all dependents claimed, child care expenses and payer’s name, address and social security or federal ID number and have 1098-T from the education institution attended.
The spouse’s name must be the same as in the Social Security office records, a dependent’s name, year of birth and Social Security number must be the same as in the Social Security office records; and, if collecting a child tax credit, the year of birth of the qualifying child must be provided in addition. If you received a 2003 advance child tax credit, you must note the exact amount received.
