NATCHEZ — After a week of April showers, the sun is expected to come out this weekend to uncover brightly covered eggs all over town.

Miss-Lou Easter Egg Hunt

Families can bring their children ages 1 to 7 to the Miss-Lou Easter Egg Hunt at Duncan Park.

The first hunt starts at 10 a.m. Saturday, when thousands of eggs, prizes and candy will be waiting to be hatched.

“I’ve got more prizes this year than ever before,” organizer Bob Ewing said.

The 53rd annual hunt at Duncan Park has been the largest Easter egg hunt in the Miss-Lou, with an average of 500 children each year.

Battle of the Bands

Rockers will howl tunes tonight at Bowie’s Battle of the Bands, a fundraiser for the Natchez-Adams County Humane Society.

The gigs will go from 7 to 11 p.m. at Bowies at 100 Main St.

All proceeds from the $10 cover charge and $1 donation per beer will go to the humane society.

“The shelter counts on this (fundraiser) each year,” Ginna Holyoak said.

Grand Village talk

Thr Grand Village of the Natchez Indians will host an illustrated talk on northeast Louisiana at 6:30 p.m. today.

Joe W. Saunders will give a speech titled “The Middle Archaic in Northeast Louisiana” in the museum auditorium.

The archaeological period known as the “Middle Archaic” spans the era from 6000 to 3000 B.C. Toward the end of this period, American Indians in northeast Louisiana constructed some of the earliest mounds in North America. Archaeological investigations of these ancient earthworks by Saunders and others have begun to shed light on the lives of these prehistoric Americans.

These early mound builders lived thousands of years before the people who constructed the mounds at Poverty Point, Troyville, and the Grand Village.

Spring Pilgrimage Music Event

The Romantic Music of Natchez will be at 8 p.m. every night from April 8 to 14 at Trinity Episcopal Church.

Tickets are $15 and can be purchased at the visitor’s center.

The program includes songs which have been a part of the Natchez are and its people.

Artists are professional musicians who have been part of the Natchez Festival of Music.
