FERRIDAY&045;&045; A Sicily Island woman was arrested in Ferriday Wednesday on capital murder charges in connection with a Texas store clerk killing.
Ferriday police officers assisted officers from the Fort Bend County, Texas Sheriff’s Office in locating Latasha James, 21, 174 Gas Line Road, Sicily Island.
Last Tuesday, James and a man allegedly entered an Exxon station in Richmond, Texas, near Houston, to commit a robbery. The store clerk was shot multiple times before the suspects left the store. He was taken to the hospital where he later died, a release from the Fort Bend County Sheriff’s Office said.
Monday, the male Uqdah Ibn-boshir Abram, 20, was apprehended by the Gulf Coast Violent Offender Task Force in Houston, Texas.
Ferriday Police Department Chief Investigator Richard Madison said James had been staying in Ferriday for several days before authorities arrested her around 5 a.m. Wednesday.
James was transported to the Concordia Parish Sheriff’s Office jail Wednesday afternoon where she was being held without bond.
Madison said James had indicated she would waive extradition and soon be transported back to Texas.
