Rebels beat Silliman, advance to state finals

The Rebels used two grand slam home runs &045; one in the first by David Trisler and another in the seventh by David Alton New &045; to run away with an 11-3 win over Silliman, sweeping the Wildcats in the MPSA South State Championship Series.
Adams Christian (22-4) will face Simpson in the state finals starting at 6 p.m. Monday at Simpson.
Trisler’s homer scored four of the Rebels’ five first-inning runs. But after that, the Rebel bats went cold for five innings.
&uot;We rolled early and we rolled late,&uot; ACCS head coach Gill Morris said. &uot;But in between they handled us. We got back on our heels and they got some momentum.&uot;
Silliman closed the gap to 5-3 in the fourth inning, but the Rebels had another big inning in the seventh to close out the win, highlighted by New’s home run.
Trisler got the win for the Rebels.
