Visiting Natchez all the way from his family home in Cheshire, England, Arley Hall, Lord Ashbrook is scheduled to speak at Stanton Hall’s Carriage House restaurant at 6 p.m. Sunday.
Lord Ashbrook will present a PowerPoint tour of the Arley gardens, proclaimed to be finest in Britain and Europe for more than 250 years.
Successive generations of the same family have continued exquisite gardening traditions while incorporating a blend of avant-garde ideas. You will see how the very best of the very best gardens are actually living, evolving works of creativity.
The gardens’ best-known feature is the Herbaceous Border, which is most likely the first border of its kind planted in England.
Also of interest are the unique Quercus Ilex Columns and the Pleached Lime Avenue of trees.
Gardeners and garden appreciators alike will be enthralled with Lord Ashbrook’s slide presentation.
The Carriage House will open at 5 p.m. for cocktails.
Following the lecture, guests will enjoy a champagne reception at Stanton Hall with appetizers by Chef Bingo of the Carriage House.
You may make reservations online at www.natchezpilgrimage.com or by calling 800-647-6742 or 601-446-4631, or purchase tickets at the event.
The price is $45 for adults and $25 for children. Proceeds benefit the preservation of Stanton Hall.
Treat yourself! We’ll look for you there.
