FERRIDAY — Services for Nicholas Ray “Nick” Herron, 33, of Spring, Texas, who died unexpectedly Thursday, March 22, 2012, will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Young’s Funeral Home in Ferriday with the Rev. Hawley Wolfe officiating.
Burial will follow at Old Pine Hill Cemetery in Sicily Island under the direction of Young’s Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Nick was born March 18, 1979, in Natchez, the son of Eugene Herron and Cheryl Goodwin. He grew up in Natchez and Tensas Parish. He attended Copiah-Lincoln Community College in Natchez and Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge. In 2008, he graduated from Alvin Community College in Texas with a degree in cardiocascular sonography. He received his credentials in polysomnography, adult and pediatric cardiac sonography, settling in Spring to pursue his career.
Nick was a versatile outdoor athlete, completing a number of adventure races, marathons, ultra marathons, triathlons and long-distance bicycle races.
He was a very loving, proud and devoted father.
Survivors include his wife, Debbie Landry Herron; two young sons, Riley, age 3 and Wyatt, age 1; one brother, Chris Herron of Natchez; his mother of Sicily Island; his father of Clayton; and his grandmother, Floye Goodwin of Ridgecrest.
Pallbearers will be Todd Scott, Fred Fondern, Rich Hansen, Jace Rebold, Chris Harr and Emmett Scott.
Honorary pallbearers will be Steve Zeagler and Van Goodwin.
In lieu of flowers, a trust is being arranged by family and friends for his sons, Riley and Wyatt.
