FERRIDAY &045; A dangerous crime streak involving three shootings and one stabbing in little more than 72 hours has Ferriday Police worried.

Arrests have been made in all but one of the incidents and no one has been killed, but Chief Investigator Richard Madison said all four could have ended with fatalities.

The streak started just after 4 a.m. Sunday near the intersection of Georgia Avenue and E.E. Wallace Boulevard when Robert Franklin was stabbed once in the upper left side of his chest, Madison said.

Franklin was hospitalized but has since been released. His estranged girlfriend Cathy Dorsey has been charged with second-degree battery in the crime.

A second violent Sunday crime occurred later in the morning on the old mill yard off First Street. The suspect shot at a person, missing and striking the mirror on the driver side of the vehicle. No arrest has been made in the mill yard case, but Madison said police had a suspect.

The second shooting involved an ongoing feud that climaxed with attempted gunfire in a town park on the 800 block of First Street. Dandrell Lamar Holmes, 17, 107 Myers St., has been arrested on charges of firing a gun in the city limits.

Holmes allegedly pulled the trigger, but his weapon jammed. Two juveniles were involved in the incident.

The third shooting happened around 11:45 a.m. Wednesday near the intersection of Delaware Avenue and Martin Luther King Jr.

Robert Skipper has been arrested for shooting at his sister, missing and striking the side of a house containing four people.

Skipper, who is wheelchair bound, was identified by his sister and found by police wheeling away from the scene a few streets over.

No one was injured, and police were still searching for the weapon Wednesday afternoon.

Skipper told authorities that he threw it into a grassy lot, Madison said.

Skipper is charged with aggravated assault with a firearm, discharging a firearm in the city limits and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. Other charges are pending.

FPD was working Wednesday afternoon to find a jail cell equipped to accommodate a wheelchair. Ferriday does not have such a facility and other nearby cells were not available. Communications with officials in Franklin Parish to house Skipper there were ongoing.

Madison said all three arrested and the one remaining suspect have prior criminal records.

&uot;We are very concerned,&uot; Madison said. &uot;Further acts of this nature could result in injuries. Thank God they were bad marksmen. In a matter of inches they’d be four homicides.&uot;

Because of the recent streak, Madison said FPD would be beefing up patrols throughout the holiday weekend.
