NATCHEZ &045; Less than a week after their beloved San Antonio Spurs won their third NBA world championship in seven seasons, the Alamo City has two more things to celebrate &045; a winning team and a hole-in-one at the 2005 Isle of Capri Gals-N-Pals Tournament.

Robby and Erika Weeks backed up their 5-under-par 67 on Monday with a solid 6-under 66 for a two-day total of 133 to win the championship flight by one shot over two teams of Week No. 6 at Beau Pr Country Club.

&uot;We played consistently well,&uot; Robby Weeks said. &uot;I really hit some good iron shots for two days.&uot;

&uot;As a team,&uot; Erika Weeks said. &uot;I made some long birdie putts. We are from San Antonio, and we love Natchez. We love the people here, especially Anne (Flowers) and Baxter (Lee) and all the wonderful staff who make it possible for us.&uot;

&uot;It comes as a total shock because we usually don’t play championship flight (golf),&uot; Robby Weeks said. &uot;We were totally shocked. We were very fortunate.&uot;

Jerry and Kathleen Schiff of Opelousas, La., made a strong charge in Tuesday’s final round and shot the round of the tournament with an 8-under 64 to finish at 134 and finish in second place in a scorecard playoff over Gary and Verona Bebow of Batesville, Ark., who had back-to-back rounds of 5-under 67 for their total of 134.

&uot;We had six birdies and an eagle on No. 8 today,&uot; Kathleen Schiff said. &uot;It (eagle putt on No. 8) was about 12-15 feet. He hit those shots to get us there.&uot;

&uot;Our iron play was better today,&uot; Jerry Schiff said. &uot;We had to shoot lights out today.&uot;

&uot;We gave ourselves more opportunities by hitting the ball closer to the pin,&uot; Kathleen Schiff said. &uot;We were four shots out. We didn’t know it at the time. We knew we had to go out and do our best.&uot;

&uot;(Gary) played a little stronger today,&uot; Verona Bebow said. &uot;I couldn’t make any putts, but I putted much better today. Gary still played strong today. We played much better on the back nine both days. We were pleased. We hadn’t played in this tournament before. We hadn’t played on this course before. We didn’t know what to expect. It was fun.&uot;

One person who definitely had fun on Monday was Susanne Nagy from San Antonio, who had her first-ever hole-in-one on the par-3 7th hole with a 9-iron from 97 yards out. Witnesses were her husband Gary Nagy and Dale and Judy Jones of Hot Springs Village, Ark.

&uot;I wasn’t sure,&uot; Susanne Nagy said. &uot;I didn’t get excited until I walked up to the hole. I walked up slowly. When I saw it in the hole, I jumped up and down.&uot;

&uot;She landed it about five yards short of the hole and it went up over a ridge and broke to the right and into the hole,&uot; Gary Nagy said. &uot;It just disappeared.&uot;

Susanne had her own way of letting the other golfers know of her accomplishment.

&uot;It was the men’s closest to the hole, so I wrote my name on it to let all the men know I had a hole-in-one. This is wonderful. Especially since my husband’s never had one. I can’t think of a better place to have a hole-in-one than at the Gals-N-Pals at Beau Pr Country Club.&uot;

Susanne Nagy received a golf bag and a picture of her holding the golf ball she used during the awards dinner at the Isle of Capri Casino’s Caribbean Cove Tuesday evening.

Jim and Susan Myers of Ft. Myers, Fla., shot a final-round 66 to finish at 137 to win the first flight by one shot.

&uot;We didn’t do too good yesterday (Monday),&uot; Jim Myers said. &uot;The difference was yesterday we had birdie putts and they didn’t drop and today we took advantage of the birdie putts and they went in. Another difference was we also played with two of the nicest people in Larry and Nancy Lawrence (from Bonham, Texas). On pars and birdies we kissed.&uot;

Bill and Joan Rigsby of Houma, La., had rounds of 71 and 67 to finish in second place at 138. Jimmy and Marie Prados, also from Opelousas, had rounds of 71 and 68 for a two-day score of 139 to finish in third place.
