Valencia Rena Beamer
NATCHEZ-Services for Valencia Rena Beamer, 33, of Natchez who died Thursday, June 16, 2005, at Natchez Regional Medical Center will be held noon on Wednesday, June 22, 2005, at New Hope Missionary Baptist Church with Bishop Stanley Searcy officiating.
Burial will be in the Milford Baptist Church Cemetery under the direction of R.D. Mackel and Sons Funeral Home.
Visitation will be today from 3 to 5 p.m. at Mackel’s Chapel.
Mrs. Beamer was born February 23, 1972, in Newellton, La., the daughter of Mary Morgan Carter and the late Essie Carrington Carter. She was educated in the Adams County Public Schools, class of Natchez High 1990. She was also a graduate of Co-lin Community College and was a member of the New Hope Missionary Baptist Church.
She is survived by her husband, Robert Beamer of Natchez; two sons, Carringtion Norman and Richard Norman III; her mother, Mary M. Carter of Natchez; her sisters, Brenda Jackson of Fayette, Delores Whitley of Vidalia, La., Marquita Singleton of Fort Campbell. Ky., Antonia Carter of Natchez, Linda Clark of Monroe, La., Marie Carter of Las Vegas, Nev., Laura Green of Houston, Texas, Ella Green of Ferriday, La., Estella Carter and Carrie Carter both of Las Vegas, Nev.; her brothers, Edward Carter of Natchez, Oliver Carter of Baton Rouge, La., Lloyd Carter of Newellton, La., Spencer Carter of Newellton, La., the Rev. Willie Moses of Winnsboro, La., Gus Green of Lafayette, La., Robert Green of Ferriday, La., Thomas Carter, Jimmy Carter and Essie Carter all of Las Vegas, Nev.; five aunts; four uncles; a host of nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends; her mother-in-law, Katie Beamer of Natchez.
Pallbearers will be friends of the family.
Edward &uot;Ed&uot; Porter
WOODVILLE-Services for Edward &uot;Ed&uot; Porter, 86, of Woodville, who died Sunday, June 19, 2005, at Wilkinson County Nursing Center will be held at noon on Wednesday, June 22, 2005 at Allen Chapel A.M.E. in Woodville with Pastor Lloyd Bailey officiating.
Burial will be in the Cedar Rest Cemetery under the direction of George F. West Funeral Home.
Visitation will be today from 1:30 to 5 p.m. at the funeral home and on Saturday from 11 to 12 p.m. at the church.
Mr. Porter was born February 2, 1919 in Wilkinson County, the son of the late Joseph and Frances Porter.
He is survived by his wife, Maggie Porter of Woodville; one son, David Lee McDonald of Baton Rouge, La.; four step sons, Woodrow, Johnny, Edward and Jerry; four step daughters, Etta, Audrey, Linda, and Mary; a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers will be friends of the family.
Elton &uot;Humpty&uot; Merck
MONTEREY, La.-Services for Elton &uot;Humpty&uot; Merck, 74, of Monterey, La., who died Sunday, June 19, 2005, at Promise Specialty Hospital in Ferriday, La., will be held 10 a.m. today at Monterey Church of Christ with the Rev. Russell Crum officiating.
Burial will be in the Monterey Church of Christ Cemetery under the direction of Young’s Funeral Home.
Mr. Merck was a resident of Monterey, La., and a retired former business owner.
He was preceded in death by his father, Alby Merck; his mother, Barbara &uot;Jenny Bob&uot; Beard Merck; two sisters, Ruth &uot;Little Mickey&uot; Lyndora, and Minnie Lee; his brother, Alby O. Merck.
He is survived by his wife, Betty Ruth Merck of Monterey, La.; four sons, Terry D. and Sandra Merck of Abilene, Texas, Elby D. Merck of Angola, La., Shane Cross of Monterey, La., and Karen Cross of Monterey, La.; his sister, Marie &uot;Sissy&uot; Heathcoat of Monterey, La. He is also survived by five grandchildren.
The pallbearers will be Blount Beard, Jack Mount, Brad Mount, Ray Routon Jr., Dickie Williams and Jeff Bairnsfather.
The honorary pallbearer will be Lane Tiffee.
