VIDALIA &045; The signs aren’t as visible, but Delta Bank employee Josh Wilson’s career is under just as much construction as the bank’s building.
The 26-year-old Vidalia native traded in the only career he’s known to make a new life for his wife and future family in a familiar setting.
Four weeks into the current job title &045; management trainee &045; Wilson is laying the foundation that will soon make him a loan officer.
A Louisiana College graduate with a business management and marketing degree, Wilson has been working in an administrative office at the college since completing his own education.
&uot;I started looking for a career change,&uot; Wilson said. &uot;I always wanted to get back into something business wise.&uot;
And he always wanted to get back to Vidalia.
&uot;When I left I never said, I’m so glad to be leaving,&uot; he said. &uot;I loved growing up here and I love that part of who I am.&uot;
Wilson did worry that Vidalia wouldn’t have the opportunities career-wise that he’d need though.
&uot;It took four to five years, but I have (found it),&uot; he said. &uot;There are opportunities here; Vidalia has done a great job making itself available for people to come back.&uot;
In the spring Wilson came back and approached the bank president about employment opportunities. Things clicked and a loose career path was laid.
While the bank’s new building is under construction and nearing its August opening date, Wilson is working at the company’s Cencap building learning the behind the scenes work.
&uot;I’m seeing all the backside,&uot; he said. &uot;I’m the kind of person who wants to know every piece of the puzzle, not just the end result.&uot;
But Wilson won’t really hit his element until he’s out front.
&uot;I enjoy meeting with the customers, taking care of the customers,&uot; he said.
Banking has always been a possible career choice, he said, for someone who likes interacting with people. &uot;My goal is to move with the bank,&uot; Wilson said. &uot;I feel like we are here for good.&uot;
Wilson’s wife of four years is an elementary education teacher hoping to find a job with the Concordia Parish schools.
