A 9-5 loss to West Monroe in which errors and walks plagued Vidalia ended it Monday night at the sub-district tournament in Monroe.

&uot;The difference in the game was walks,&uot; Vidalia head coach Tam Winston said. &uot;We gave up 10 and they only gave up two. That ultimately was the difference in the game.&uot;

All of Vidalia’s runs came in the first three innings. In the first, Caleb Vines singled in the first, went to second on a passed ball and third on Jake Winston’s ground out. Vines later scored on Dee Garrison’s single. Garrison moved up when Devin Barnes’ reached on an error and eventually came home on a passed ball.

Jacob Perry singled to open the third inning and Chase Kaiser walked. Winston then singled to score Perry, Garrison walked and Devin Barnes drove in Garrison and Vines.

But that wasn’t going to be enough. West Monroe North scored five runs in the second to take the lead for good, adding two more in the third and a final insurance run in the sixth.

Brookhaven Americans 5,

Natchez 4, 10 innings

BROOKHAVEN &045; Natchez fought toe-to-toe with the Brookhaven Americans for nine innings, but the tenth proved to be too much.

Brookhaven scored a run in the bottom of the tenth inning to beat Natchez.

Brookhaven’s Bubba Keene reached on an error and Grant Burke singled to move him up. Keene went to third on a passed ball and stole home to end the game.

Natchez scored a run in the second when Adam Kaiser doubled, Semmes White singled him to third and Kaiser came in to score on a passed ball.
