LIBERTY — Daniel Dunaway pitched a no-hitter with nine strikeouts in a complete-game performance for Trinity Episcopal as the Saints picked up their first win of the season by defeating the Amite School Center Rebels 4-0 Thursday night.

Sky Logan went 3-for-3 and Caleb Gillespie was 3-for-4 to lead Trinity at the plate. The Saints scored two runs in the top of the third inning to break a scoreless ball game. They added one run in the top of the fifth and one more in the top of the seventh. Dunaway did walked and hit two batters and Trinity’s defense committed three errors, but the Rebels were not able to take advantage of those miscues.

Trinity Episcopal (1-1) hosts Silliman Institute today. The completion of their March 5 game at Silliman, which was suspended with the score tied at 1-1 after 10 innings, will get under way at 6 p.m. The Wildcats will still be the home team in that game. Another varsity game will start soon after the completion of the first game.

Tensas Academy drops doubleheader at Prairie View

BASTROP, La. — The Prairie View Academy Spartans swept a varsity doubleheader against Tensas Academy Thursday afternoon as they defeated the Chiefs 5-0 in Game 1 and 11-0 in just five innings in Game 2.

“We just couldn’t get the bat on the ball. We got a few hits, but they weren’t timely,” Tensas Academy head coach Curt Leake said. “We’re struggling on the mound.”

And it won’t get any easier for winless Tensas Academy (0-7) when it travels to Minden, La. to take on undefeated Glenbrook School, the No. 1 team in Class A, next Monday at 4 p.m.
