Knights to give away $10,000 Saturday
Published 12:00 am Thursday, March 4, 2010
If you see some smiling faces in church Sunday morning, it just could be people who won big Saturday night at the Knights of Columbus $10,000 draw down.
The event will be open to the public — by ticket only — at the Natchez Community Center on Franklin Street. Doors will open at 6 p.m. and the drawing for the money will begin at 7 p.m.
Proceeds will benefit the Knights of Columbus in Natchez. For those unfamiliar with the Knights, we are affiliated with Catholic churches; however, we contribute a lot in time and money to community-wide causes: Habitat for Humanity, the Stewpot, Catholic Charities, Pleasant Acre Day School, Boy Scouts and many more.
We are a fraternal organization and have a Ladies Auxiliary. I guess you could say we’re a behind-the-scenes organization, although many have seen us each year with our yellow vests on at local stores giving away Tootsie Rolls and collecting money for Pleasant Acre Day School.
Now for the draw down. Tickets are $100 each. During the drawing every 25th ticket will receive $100. The last five tickets remaining will have the opportunity to split the jackpot or continue the drawing.
At that point, thousands of dollars are up for grabs. How much the jackpot will be depends on how many tickets are sold.
We are guaranteeing to give away a total of $10,000. You do not have to be present to win.
We’ll have food and beverages galore (no coolers and no BYOB, please), and entertainment from the Miss-Lou’s own Rosco.
Each ticket admits two people to the event, which should be fun and exciting. Tickets will be sold at the door.
So please join us, and you just may walk away smiling from ear to ear.
If you wish a ticket, you may call Conrad Anderson at 601-446-2184.
