Kudos to the Concordia Parish Police Jury and its staff, who earned a clean audit report Monday night.
Independent auditor and CPA Jeri Sue Tosspon found little to quibble with in the police jury’s accounting practices, and that’s good news for the taxpayers whose money is in the jury’s care.
Like many local governments, the parish has had to cope with tight finances in recent years.
But highlights of the police jury’s audit this year included these facts:
4Concordia Parish’s assets exceed its liabilities by $7.2 million.
4Last year total revenues exceeded expenditures by $461,480.
4The police jury had net capital assets of $2.536 million and a $5,000 debt associated with capital assets.
4Payroll and retirement cost the police jury $1.22 million.
We’re glad taxpayers can trust their money is being treated carefully in the police jury’s hands.
