The Natchez-Adams County Economic Development Authority is looking to get the word out about Natchez business opportunities.

On Wednesday, the EDA board voted

to pay $2,000 to advertise, on an electronic billboard in Baton Rouge, the fact that despite Hurricane Katrina, Natchez is open to receive new industries, including ones displaced from coastal areas by the storm.

Others advertising on the sign, which changes its messages 72 times a day, will include the Convention and Visitors Bureau and Natchez Pilgrimage Tours.

Both EDA and tourism officials have said they do not want to capitalize on the tragedy in New Orleans but want to let displaced businesses know they can find a home in the Miss-Lou.
