MARKSVILLE, La. — Taylor Rodgers and Laura Perilloux combined to strike out 10 batters as the Vidalia Lady Vikings defeated the Marksville Lady Tigers 10-1 in an LHSAA District 3-3A game Thursday afternoon.
Rodgers got the start for Vidalia and she did not disappoint. She pitched five shutout innings and allowed just two hits with one walk to go along with six strikeouts. Perilloux went the final two innings and allowed one run on one hit, struck out four and walked one.
Vidalia was only up 1-0 after three innings of play before finally getting their bats to wake up. The Lady Vikings scored two runs in the top of the fourth inning, one in the top of the fifth and three each in the top of the sixth and seventh innings.
Marksville managed to break up the shut-out bid by scoring its one run in the bottom of the seventh inning. The Lady Tigers managed just three hits with all of them being singles and were unable to capitalize on four Lady Vikings errors.
Vidalia (6-5, 1-1) finished with 11 hits in the game, yet only one went for extra bases – a triple by Perilloux, who went 3-for-4. Emily Meyers also went 3-for-4 at the plate.
Block 17, Mangham 1
MANGHAM, La. — Abbey Ryan went 4-for-4 with a double and three runs batted in and Mollie Swayze drove in five runs as the Block Lady Bears took care of the Mangham Lady Dragons in four innings Thursday afternoon.

Avoyelles Charter at Monterey postponed
MONTEREY — The Monterey Lady Wolves were hoping to pick up their first win in LHSAA District 4-B Thursday afternoon against the Avoyelles Charter Lady Vikings.
But off and on rain showers during the day left Monterey’s softball field in no condition to play on. And because of that, the game was suspended until a later date, Lady Wolves head coach Hazel Brallier said.
Which means Monterey’s next game won’t be until next Tuesday when it hits the road to take on Rapides at 4:30 p.m.
