CRYSTAL SPRINGS &045; Jimmie Shorter had a big game for Jefferson County with 150 yards rushing and three touchdowns to lead the Tigers past the Crystal Springs Tigers 38-21 Friday night in a Region 6-3A
game.
Alpha Sanders did his best to keep Crystal Springs (2-4, 1-2) in the game with two touchdown runs and a touchdown catch, but Jefferson County’s running game, led by Shorter, was too much to overcome.
Vernon Smith had a pair of short touchdown runs and Anthony Williams had a touchdown run of his own for Jefferson County (4-2, 2-0).
After Crystal Springs took an early 7-0 lead on a 41-yard scoring run by Sanders, Jefferson County made the score 12-7 on a 7-yard run by Williams and a 4-yard run by Smith.
Shorter’s 3-yard scoring run gave the visiting Tigers an 18-9 lead over the host Tigers at halftime.
Thanks to Shorter and Smith, Jefferson County outscored Crystal Springs 20-12 in the second half to pull away for the win.
