Bulldogs fall to Warriors 28-6

NATCHEZ &045; It was not a pretty night for Natchez, as Oak Grove earned a 28-6 victory at Tom F. Williams Memorial Stadium on Friday night.

For Oak Grove quarterback Kirk Lance, it was a good night.

Lance threw three touchdowns &045; a 39-yarder to Danniser Ray Keys, a 39-yarder to Torris Magee to end the first period and a 91-yarder to Magee as Oak Grove jumped out to a 21-0 lead.

In the fourth quarter, Oak Grove’s Marshal Williams scored on an 18-yard run to give Oak Gove a 28-0 lead over the Bulldogs.

When it seemed down and out for the Bulldogs (2-3, 0-2 in 4-5A), they pulled out a touchdown.

On a fourth-and-18 with 32 seconds remaining, Natchez’s Jason Bruce threw a pass to Dekeerien Jackson, who outmuscled two defenders for the touchdown.

&8221;We had chances and didn’t capitalize,&8220; Natchez head coach Lance Reed said. &8221;We got to go back to work and give ourselves a chance to win.&8220;

The Bulldogs are also still searching for their first region victory, while Oak Grove (5-0) remained unbeaten.

Natchez hurt itself with turnovers and penalties. Oak Grove intercepted four passes. Natchez also intercepted four passes.

The two teams combined for 275 yards in penalties.

&8221;Our defense played outstanding,&8220; Oak Grove coach Nevil Barr said.
