NATCHEZ — A Sunday evening wreck sent two people to the hospital, Natchez Police Chief Mike Mullins said.
Tywanda Anderson and her 2-year-old passenger were both transported to a local hospital after a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of John R. Junkin Drive and Homochitto Street at approximately 6:30 p.m. Sunday.
Anderson was traveling through the intersection in a 1999 Dodge Durango and struck a 2003 Chevrolet Silverado truck, driven by Jason L. Gandy, that failed to stop at the red light at the intersection, Mullins said.
“She struck his vehicle, but that was because, witnesses say, he ran the red light,” Mullins said.
Gandy was not injured in the wreck, and did not have any passengers in his vehicle.
Gandy, 26, 6421 Louisiana 565, Jonesville, was arrested following the accident for second offense DUI, no insurance and driving under suspension due to a prior DUI charge. He had a .12 blood alcohol content at the time of the accident.
He has been released on $2,256 bond.
