FERRIDAY — A Summit man was severely injured Sunday afternoon after he apparently bungled the construction of a pipe bomb.
The incident happened at a residence on Louisiana 566 in Dunbarton.
The 19-year-old victim reportedly sustained a serious hand injury and was transported to Riverland Medical Center in Ferriday before he was airlifted to a Shreveport hospital, according to a news release from the Concordia Parish Sheriff’s Office.
CPSO investigators said that the injured man had reportedly already detonated two pipe bombs in an attempt to blow up a tree house at the rear of the residence where the incident occurred.
Four others were reportedly involved in the attempt to blow up the three house.
The other four individuals were ages 9, 12, 16 and 17.
Concordia Parish Sheriff Randy Maxwell said that the incident remains under investigation and that criminal charges are pending.
