NATCHEZ &8212;Bingham Farms, Mich., development firm ProVisions has bought Larry L. &8220;Butch&8221; Brown&8217;s Riverside Central Services building near the Natchez-Adams Port &8212; but what type of industry will go there is anyone&8217;s guess.

&8220;They&8217;re exciting about getting started &8230; but it&8217;s still too early to tell what they&8217;re going to do with it,&8221; Woody Allen, chairman of the Economic Development Authority, said at the EDA&8217;s Wednesday meeting. &8220;The (RCS purchase) deal was just closed within the last week.&8221;

ProVisions President Murray Wikol has held executive positions with firms that have been involved in locating everything from new sites for State of Michigan offices to retail stores.

Most recently, Wikol has made headlines for his part in locating a Bass Pro Shop in Pearl, which should open later this month.

Wikol could not be reached for comment late Wednesday afternoon.

In other business, Allen said talks to purchase at least part of the former International Paper mill site should be resolved &8220;within the next week, one way or the other.&8221;

EDA and Adams County officials have said a prospect is seriously considering locating on part of that site, although no details of the proposed project have been released.

The good news is that the U.S. Economic Development Administration has said a $268,245 grant given to the local EDA to help develop industrial park sites can be used for additional work at the IP site.

The IP plant closed in July 2003 due to market factors, leaving more than 600 people out of work.
