Girlfriends assist in inmates escape

VIDALIA &8212; Two Concordia Parish Correctional Facility inmates escaped Tuesday night, and their girlfriends are in jail for allegedly helping them do it.

The two minimum-security inmates &8212; Heroin Kinchen, 29, and Irvin Jupiter, 24 &8212; were both participants in the Work Release program.

According to a release from the sheriff&8217;s office, each had only a few months to serve on their drug sentences.

They escaped from the Work Release program building on U.S. 84/65, allegedly by catching a ride with their girlfriends to the Lafayette area, where they got dropped off.

Sheriff Randy Maxwell said the men did not pose a threat.

&8220;Neither one of these men would be considered dangerous in any manner whatsoever &8230; &8221; Maxwell said. &8220;We believe these two are still in the Lafayette area and we expect to have them picked up soon.&8221;

Kinchen, of New Iberia, is a black male, 5 – 9 tall and 173 pounds.

Jupiter is a 170-pound, 6-1 black male. He is from Boutte.

Two sisters, Annie and Victoria Franklin, both 19 and of 611 Spruce St., were arrested Wednesday on charges of assisting escape.

Bond for each was set at $10,000 during a magistrate hearing in Seventh District Court.

The state Department of Corrections has been notified of the escape and anyone with information regarding the two men is asked to call the Concordia Parish Sheriff&8217;s Office at (318) 336-5231.
