NATCHEZ &8212; A spokeswoman with the Mississippi Highway Patrol confirmed Wednesday that one state trooper and two driver&8217;s license examiners from Natchez have been fired.

Spokeswoman Delores Lewis said the employees were terminated in conjunction with a fraud investigation.

The investigation became public in early October, and the employees were placed on administrative leave with pay.

Lewis said all three were fired in &8220;the last few days.&8221; She would not confirm that the fraud was connected with Red Cross hurricane relief funds, something a Jackson television station reported in October.

WLBT reported the examiners allegedly altered driver&8217;s license information to include coastal addresses so they could receive the funds.

The trooper allegedly took some of the money.

All three were based in Natchez.
