FERRIDAY — A vehicle accident at the intersection of Louisiana 425 and 3232 involving a Louisiana State Police trooper and an elderly couple brought traffic in Ferriday to a standstill for a few hours Friday afternoon.
Thomas L. Williams, 84, and his passenger, Earlene Williams, 79, both of Vidalia, sustained moderate injuries and were transported to Riverland Medical Center following the collision, said Louisiana State Police Public Information Officer Scott Moreau.
Trooper John Parker of Deridder, La., was airlifted to Rapides Regional Medical Center in Alexandria with moderate injuries.
Parker’s vehicle, a Ford Explorer, was on its side in a ditch on Louisiana 425.
The Williamses’ vehicle, a 1998 Dodge pickup truck, was in the middle of the intersection with front end damage.
Concordia Parish Fire District firefighters removed the roof of the SUV before getting Parker on a stretcher and into the helicopter at approximately 12:34 p.m.
Neither driver received any citations.
Details of the accident aren’t available until a crash report is completed, which can take up to seven days Moreau said.
