FERRIDAY &8212; Ferriday City Clerk Shannon Beatty is in good condition while recovering from a mild stroke, her mother-in-law said.
Beatty was at work Monday when she began experiencing a migraine headache. Co-worker Phyllis Stephens advised her to go home.
&8220;She got home and said I&8217;d better take her to the hospital,&8221; Rae Beatty said.
Doctors at Riverland Medical Center performed a CT scan and found a clogged artery in Beatty&8217;s neck. They sent her in an ambulance to Rapides General Hospital in Alexandria for an MRI exam.
Rae Beatty said her daughter-in-law was regaining feeling in her right arm and that doctors were might be home as soon as today.
She is expected to make a full recovery.
Stephens, the tax clerk, has assumed Beatty&8217;s duties. She said she is happy to help, but looks forward to her colleague&8217;s return.
&8220;Please hurry back,&8221; she said.
This sentiment shared by Beatty&8217;s husband and three children.
&8220;The children are worried about their mama and that Santa won&8217;t come because of everything going on,&8221; Rea Beatty said.
Ferriday Mayor Gene Allen spoke with Shannon Beatty on the phone Wednesday, saying she would be fine. He passed along best wishes from city hall.
&8220;We hope you get well soon,&8221; he said.
