NATCHEZ — Natchez police are investigating the robbery of a man who was reportedly snatched out of his bed, assaulted and robbed by three acquaintances Monday morning.
According to the police report, the victim reported he awoke to find three men standing in his bedroom inside his house on Watkins Street. The men reportedly pulled the man out of bed, repeatedly kicked him and hit him with an unknown object.
The men then reportedly took a gold chain from around the man’s neck and $1,500 in cash and left the victim on his bedroom floor reportedly threatening further harm if he reported the robbery.
The report states a Natchez police officer observed that the victim suffered minor injuries including a gash and scratches on his head and a missing front tooth.
NPD investigator Jerry Ford said he is working the case and currently investigating some inconsistencies in the victim’s testimony in the report.
“I think there is a little bit more to it at it this point, and I am still looking into it,” Ford said.
Anyone with any information about the robbery should call NPD at 601-445-5565 or Crime Stoppers at 601-442-5000.
