HOUSTON – Minnesota Lynx guard Lindsey Harding, the No. 1 pick in this year’s draft, will miss the rest of her rookie season with a torn anterior cruciate ligament in her left knee.

Harding injured the knee Tuesday at Washington, and an MRI confirmed the tear Thursday. She will have surgery and should be ready for training camp next April.

She was leading all rookies at 11.7 points and 3.9 assists per game, and she was second among rookies at 4.4 rebounds per game.

“It is extremely upsetting to see my first season in the WNBA end this way,” said Harding, a Houston native. “I will work as hard as I can to rehab my knee, and I will definitely be back next season.”

Harding was taken with the first pick by Phoenix and traded to Minnesota.
