Softball brief: NHS splits at tourney

VICKSBURG — The Natchez High School softball team earned a split Friday at the Vicksburg Classic, beating Sacred Heart 9-7 but losing to Vicksburg High School 10-1.
Michaela Hutchins was the winning pitcher in game one, pitching all four innings and giving up seven runs, five earned, on five hits. She also struck out six.
NHS’s Holly Waterman went 3-for-4 in game one, and Jessilyn Caston was 2-for-4.
In game two, Vicksburg tallied 18 hits against the Lady Bulldogs, while NHS managed just three hits. Relief pitcher Jasmine Ivory took the loss, going two innings and giving up three earned runs on six hits.
No one for Natchez High had more than one hit in game two.
The Lady Bulldogs (1-1) will play at West Lincoln next Friday.
